Annual General Meeting 3rd February 2011 at Wootton British Legion
Attended by over 30 players representing over 25 teams the 2011 AGM got under way shortly after 8.10pm. After the usual business the Chairman gave his report.
The Balance Sheet was accepted along with reports.
Under AOB suggestions there were 3 proposals:-
1. Rule 9 rule change making foot faults mandatory. The was defeated after the issue of umpiring was taken into account. Some suggested increasing the height of the ockey and that there is no real advantage in going onto the ockey.
2. Removal of compensatory throws during competition matches including finals night. This would force players to practice before the games start. This was proposed to remove the interruption to matches but was defeated.
3. All competitions to be played on a Wednesday not a Thursday to encourage more entrants. Thursday night is also darts night and that's why competitions are not attended. This would cause a lengthening of the season and that was a problem. The motion was defeated but the committee agreed it would try to work out if one or two competitions could be done this way on a Wednesday.
Mr Brown noted that a collection for Steve Pugh from Abingdon United and the Winter League (in which he played) had raised £112.50 and was donated to his charity the National Kidney Foundation.
With no further business the existing committee were re-elected and the meeting closed at 9.07pm.
Brian Collins, the stickmaker, was available with dolls, sticks and equipment to purchase - he will be back for Registration Night on the 3rd March between 8-10pm. |
