This is the third newsletter from the league for 2011! Missed all the others click here!
Summer League has started ! 8's pre-lim rounds have completed and we have the semi-finals this week on Thursday at Abingdon Legion (Steventon Sports vs Fox) and Abingdon Con Club (Spread Eagle vs Ab Utd).
Apologies for the late arrival of the Match Results and Sixers - these are now online on the results page.
Fixture list and revised competition fixtures are now online. Don't forget the Pairs and Fours are on Wednesday this year in response to the AGM suggestion.
FOUNDER MEMBERS COMPETITION is on the 9th June at Abingdon Utd FC. The Founder Members is for those players over 55 and they get free entry! It's always a great night of singles knockout and you get to see some great old players!
Brian Collins, The Stick Maker is ready with a selection of sticks, dolls, swivels etc so if you need any parts for the pitch or a new set of sticks, make a dash with your cash!
We all know how great Charlbury Beer Festival is (if you don't, try it!) and this year it's even better with an Aunt Sally Competition. Fancy a title? Check out their website at www.charlburybeerfestival.org.
We've also been contacted by programme makers at ITV who want to know the history of Aunt Sally and other pub games. Let us know if you have any evidence!
Signing on new players can be done with £3 and name, address, signature and previous team played for forwarded to the Secretary at the usual address on the match card. Transfers are not allowed and this is clearly stated in the rules. The only way to do a 'transfer' is to sign on for two teams at the start of the season and whichever team you play for first is the one you have to play for for the rest. (If you want to change this you need to propose it at the AGM)
DON'T FORGET.....
You know it's good when you hear the wood!
Get your team to sign up to the newsletter! Forward this to your Aunt Sally team mates! We've got 100+ people signed up (and that includes the committee!) - over 800 people played the game this year - pass it on as the Newsletter is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way for us to stay in touch.
Do you want us to stay in touch any other way? Is Twitter good for you? Would a text message be better? Would you want to text your scores in? How do you feel about entering your scores online on the website? Give me your views....
