Newsletter - June 2011 - Issue 04

This is the fourth newsletter from the league for 2011! Missed all the others click here!

Competitions have started ! 8's semis have given us The Fox Steventon vs Spread Eagle to be played on 23rd June - venue to be announced. We've also had the Founder Members competition and an illustrated match report is online.

We also had a bumper Pairs competition this Wednesday at 4 venues as well so the chaps who proposed a competition on a Wednesday were proved right. There's another of the Webmaster's illustrated match reports for the games that took place at Abingdon Utd one of which was a bit of a marathon.

No results this week as it was Pairs Competitions and next weeks results might be a little delayed. Please write the player names legibly on the scorecards - that's why we've had so many 'duplicate' names this year!

Fixture list and revised competition fixtures are now online. Don't forget the Pairs and Fours are on Wednesday this year in response to the AGM suggestion.

The Anchorman is a new blog (think of it as an online newspaper column) by one of the league's veteran players. He's already tackled his own position of Anchorman and this week its Competitions. Have a read and if you disagree either leave a comment (which will be vetted) or email him direct from the page.

Brian Collins, The Stick Maker is ready with a selection of sticks, dolls, swivels etc so if you need any parts for the pitch or a new set of sticks, make a dash with your cash!

2011WOW.jpgWe all know how great Charlbury Beer Festival is (if you don't, try it!) and this year it's even better with an Aunt Sally Competition. Fancy a title? Check out their website at www.charlburybeerfestival.org

Let us know if you have any evidence of the history of Aunt Sally as we've been contacted by programme makers at ITV who want to know.

Signing on new players can be done with £3 and name, address, signature and previous team played for forwarded to the Secretary at the usual address on the match card. Transfers are not allowed and this is clearly stated in the rules. The only way to do a 'transfer' is to sign on for two teams at the start of the season and whichever team you play for first is the one you have to play for for the rest (you have to pay two sign on fees though!).

(If you want to change any of the rules you need to propose it at the AGM)

DON'T FORGET.....

You know it's good when you hear the wood!

Get your team to sign up to the newsletter! Forward this to your Aunt Sally team mates! We've got 100+ people signed up (and that includes the committee!) - over 800 people played the game this year - pass it on as the Newsletter is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way for us to stay in touch.

Do you want us to stay in touch any other way? Is Twitter good for you? Would a text message be better? Would you want to text your scores in? How do you feel about entering your scores online on the website? Give me your views....
