Newsletter - September 2011 - Issue 06 - Season Finale!

This is the sixth newsletter from the league for 2011! Missed all the others click here!

It's the Season Finale with one game to go and a fair few positions to be fought over! Those up for grabs i.e. within 6 points, are:-

Premier runners up, A winners, B runners up, C winners, E winners & runners up, F winners & runners up, G winners, H winners and runners up.

ALL TEAMS NEED TO GET THEIR CARDS TO THE SECRETARY FOR SATURDAY 17th SEPT so that the final playoffs can be organised for the 21st Sept.

H SECTION TEAMS! For all you new teams you need to pay attention to rules 14 and 22 and all games must be completed before the last game of the season i.e. 14th Sept.  Failure to do so may eliminate you from the section and get you fined!  GET YOUR CARDS IN!

If you still have issues around the Section and Handicap system please read the explanation on the website. It's about as fair as we can make but we're open to suggestions (sensible clean publishable ones!) and if you still feel strongly please raise it at the AGM in January!

Finals night is on the 28th September at Abingdon United Football Club and I look forward to seeing you all there for some great Aunt Sally !

Given we have 11 trophies up for grabs in the last game then Presentation Night is worth making an appearance for. It's a great night and the more teams come along to get their trophies the better the night is (and the less the committee have to play Postman Pat) so let me encourage you winners and runners up and those top dolls etc to make sure you book the 28th October at Abingdon United Football Club to collect your spoils in person! Oh and that reminds me - GET YOUR TROPHIES BACK FOR COLLECTION!

The Anchorman is one of the league's veteran players. He's got his thoughts out on all the major things we know, love and hate about the game. You can now comment online so if you want to shout - type it out! You might like to re-read his musings over the winter and dream of summer nights with a pint or you could come along and watch....

The Winter League  starts on 5th October and fixtures are available online. There's no friendly this time because of the run over of the Wednesday night competitions in the Summer.

AUNT SALLY ON TV!

Last time I told you about our filming with Johnny Vaughn for the History channel's Mud Men programme (on Sky and VirginXL) well our news is that it's likely to be shown in February so keep an eye out! (I'll let you know when I get more).

AGM will be in the New Year so if you want to change any of the rules you need to propose it, in writing before the AGM! Simples!

DON'T FORGET.....

You know it's good when you hear the wood!

Get your team to sign up to the newsletter! Forward this to your Aunt Sally team mates! We've got 100+ people signed up (and that includes the committee!) - over 800 people played the game this year - pass it on as the Newsletter is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way for us to stay in touch.

Do you want us to stay in touch any other way? Is Twitter good for you? Would a text message be better? Would you want to text your scores in? How do you feel about entering your scores online on the website? Give me your views....
