Newsletter - July 2009 - Issue 04
This is the fourth newsletter from the league. Missed the others click here!
If you have ideas about what you want to know about or see on the website contact us!
Well, we are half way through the 50th Abingdon & District Aunt Sally League Season and the tables show it all. Competitions are also panning out and with the Founder Members competition now on the 6th August it gives the opportunity for all over 55 players to take part for free!
The BIG EVENT this week is of course the 50th Reunion Celebrations at Drayton Golf Club THIS SATURDAY 11th July. Festivities start at 7.30pm and include a gift for every signed on player - so get at least one person from your team to attend! It promises to be a great night of nostalgia and fun. So, if you know of any Aunt Sally players, old, current or prospective, that still don't know about it, make sure you tell 'em!
The observant amongst you may have noticed the website homepage now includes mentions of Twitter and Facebook. I've set these up in attempt at generating some interest in Aunt Sally. Twitter is a way of notifying people of updates - it would be possible for instance to get match results available almost immediately. Facebook has facilities for chatting and blogging. Needless to say we, the Committee, can't control what's said on Facebook so we take no responsibility for the consequences! I know there are Aunt Sally players out there on Facebook so by all means become a friend of 'Abingdon Aunt-Sally' (note the - in the 'surname') and join the 'Abingdon Aunt Sally' group for lively discussion on the game! You might also want to join the Olympic Aunt Sally group to back the bid!
The website popularity is rising - mainly due to the results being reliably available (thanks to Graham Brown, Jean and Claire), and now published in the Oxford Mail etc. However, there are over 836 sign-on players in the league and we have only 40-odd signed on for the newsletter. Spread the word - I'm not going to spam mail everyone but it is the easiest way for the committee to tell you what's going on directly at minimal cost - we're not in the habit of phoning up 76 captains and secretaries! That said we could text you - would that be easier? - let me know webmaster@abingdonauntsally.com
Thanks for reading and look forward to the Reunion Night on Saturday, and don't forget....
You know it's good when you hear the wood!
